Friday October 2nd


3:00-6:00 pm Registration Open in Grand Lobby at Temple University School of Medicine

3:00-6:00 pm Student Exhibition Hall in the Grand Lobby
** Come out and see inspiring artwork by Caryn Babaian, Biology Professor and Professional Artist, learn about food and our bodies, participate in a discussion with your AMSA Action Committee Leaders on a variety of topics, visit with admission representatives from all the Philadelphia medical schools, and kick of the conference!

3:00-4:00 pm Temple University School of Medicine Tours
** Take a tour of our new state-of-the-art facility. Practice your clinical skills in our simulation labs, see the new Anatomy Room complete with electronic touchscreen Netters, and learn how medical schools are updating facilities to keep up with the growing use of technology in medicine

4:00-5:00 pm Welcome Keynote Address - Dr. John Daly
** Listen to our first keynote of the conference given by the Dean of Temple University School of Medicine entitled: "A Commitment to Service: How Being Active in Your Community can Improve Personal Wellness"

5:00-6:00 pm Workshop - Caryn Babaian, MS - "Picturing Anatomy: Art, Life Science, and World-Making through the Creative Experience"
** Participate in this hands-on workshop that examines the similiarities between an artist and a physician - Learn to appreciate the spatial relationships of the human body, the importance of incorperating drawings into your studying routine, and how you can unleash your inner artist

5:00-6:00 pm Workshop - Dr. Jim Withers - “Establishing Street Medicine in your Community”
** Attend this interactive workshop to learn valuable clinical skills for working with this unique patient population

** To bring our conference to an end, we have invited the Senior Medical Director of the University of Pennsylvania's Primary Care Network to speak about the challenges we face in achieving wellness in ourselves and our patients, while giving a brief introduction to the Patient Centered Medical Home Model in a talk entitled "Is the Patient Centered Medical Home the Answer for Primary and Secondary Prevention?"

12:00-1:00 pm National Grand Rounds on Health Care Reform – Moderated by Arthur Kellerman, MD.
Invited Panelists: Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Senator Tom Harkin (IA), Rep. Henry Waxman (CA)
** Join physicians from across the nation at this one-of-a-kind special event convened by AMSA and the NPA Foundation. This is an educational and information-gathering event for physicians and physicians-in-training to ask questions of the leaders in Washington working on health care reform, and to voice their concerns. This event will be webcasted live by Kaiser Family Foundation. Registration for this event is separate from conference registration. There is no fee to participate. Space is limited, and attendance is RSVP-only.

10:00-3:00 pm Lobby Appointments
**Meet with your legislators on health care reform. Lobby Training is Sunday night at the Conference hotel. AMSA National will make your appointments. Travel is on-your-own. There is no fee to participate. Registration for this event is separate from the conference registration, and you must register for this event ahead of time to participate.
